Security Information and Updates

General Information

PremierOne Credit Union may set and access PremierOne cookies on your computer. We may also set and access device identifiers which could include IP address, user agent information (browser version, OS type and version), and device provided identifiers. Once you log into PremierOne Credit Union on your device, PremierOne may recognize your device to provide you with a personalized experience, independent of your device settings.

 Security Information

Beware of Vishing, Smishing, and Phishing: The latest attempts to gain your information include mobile phone text messages where y you must call a phone number and provide confidential information.

Voice phishing is the criminal practice of using social engineering over the telephone system to gain access to private personal and financial information from the public or the purpose of financial reward. Unless you contacted an institution directly, you do not know who is on the other end of the line. Never submit confidential information by phone or voicemail if you are not the one who initiated the call.

For example, if you receive a text that says, "Dear credit union bank customer, we regret that we have had to lock out access to your account. Please call 901.562.1204 to access your account." If you respond, an automated response may request your credit card number. This is referred to as “Vishing” because the fraudsters are Voice Phishing for your information. Whether by mobile phone or email, do not call and leave confidential information in a message or provide this information if you did not initiate the request.

SMiShing is short for "SMS phishing." SMiShing is a security attack in which the user is tricked into downloading a Trojan horse, virus, or other malware onto his cellular phone or other mobile device. Once the software is installed, it can give criminals control of your device and access to your data.

For example, if you receive a mobile text that says, "Dear credit union/bank customer, we regret to inform you that you have been locked out of your account. Please click here to access your account." When you click the link, the software is installed on your device, and the device becomes compromised.

Suspicious phone calls, emails, or mail that request a response or action to contact an institution or individual where you would provide the account number, personal information or a password.

Remember that legitimate institutions never contact you and ask for your account or confidential information. If you receive a response like this about your account at Premie One Credit Union, end the conversation and contact the credit union directly at 1(408)524-4500 or 1(855)500-7128. NEVER respond to any request like this unless you initiated the request yourself.

The federal government and technology industry have developed practical tips to help you guard against internet fraud, and computer security, and protect your personal information. You can browse the websites below to review ways to protect yourself from fraud and identity theft.
